Watch Table Test वॉच टेबल टेस्ट
The railway's mock link for CEN 01/2025 gives this kind for the Following Directions Test
The Watch Table Test is kind 2b of the Following Directions Test, Test 2 of the RRB ALP CBAT. The hall gives 20 questions in 10 minutes, 30 seconds a question. Eight letters sit round a circle, each with a numbered square, and a compass marks the centre. Every question names a start, a direction and a path round the circle, and the answer is one of the numbers in the squares. It measures how exactly you follow a written direction against a clock. In the last exam (CEN 01/2024) the hall gave this kind, as the institute's records show.
The circle stays at the left throughout. The 20 questions run down the right, each with its number options. You read a direction, walk the path in your head, and click the number it asks for. There is nothing to memorise. This page explains the screen and works the RDSO guideline's two examples. It gives a method, the mistakes that cost marks and a 7-day plan. After login, a free Full Mock lets you sit all five tests, Test 2 among them, on the hall's clock.
The hall's own count and clock, as the RDSO guideline (ALPs Guidelines CBT, Jan 2020) gives them. The options under each question are the numbers from the squares; click the one the question asks for.

How the test runs on screenस्क्रीन पर कैसे चलता है
- 1
Instruction screen
The test opens with instructions in Hindi and English and the circle drawn as an example. They show two example questions with their answers. The portal allows 5 minutes here; press Skip Instruction when you are ready.
- 2
The test screen
The watch table is fixed at the left: eight letters, a numbered square beside each, the compass in the middle. The 20 questions sit at the right with their number options; the Time Left clock starts at 10 minutes.
- 3
Answering a question
Read the direction, follow its path on the circle, and click the number where it ends. The answer is kept as you click.
- 4
Moving down the list
The mouse wheel is off, as in the hall. Move down the list of 20 questions without it; the circle stays put.
- 5
Submit and result
Press Submit after the last question, or let the clock submit at zero. The T-Score comes up at once, with a review of every direction and the right number.
A worked exampleउदाहरण
- Which number appears just opposite to the number between B3 and D2?
- While moving from North to East by the shortest route, which number appears in between the two?
The RDSO guideline's example gives 5 as the first answer and 2 as the second.
The method: how to attempt a questionतरीका
- 1
Read to the question mark
Read the whole direction before you touch the circle. Pick out the start, the way of travel, and what is asked at the end: between, opposite or the shortest route.
- 2
Place the start
Find the start on the circle: a letter with its number, such as B3, or a compass point, such as North. Hold that place with your eye; its own number is the answer only if the direction says so.
- 3
Travel one place at a time
Move round the circle place by place, noting the number at each place you pass. Right-handedly is clockwise, left-handedly anticlockwise. The place you start from is not your first step; the first step is the next place along.
- 4
Land on the right place
Between: take the place that lies between the two named places. Opposite: go four places on from there, either way round. Shortest route: count both ways round and take the shorter way. In every case the answer is the number in the square at the place where the direction lands.
- 5
Click and move on
Every question lists the same numbers as options, so a slip does not show there. Re-read the direction once, click, and drop to the next one. 20 questions in 10 minutes is 30 seconds each; no second visits until the end.
6 tips that raise the scoreसुझाव
1.Learn the compass before question one
North sits at the top. Clockwise from there come North-East, East, South-East, South, South-West, West and North-West. Say them once on the instruction screen.
2.Do not count the start as a step
The place you start from is where you stand. Your first step is the next place along. Say the number at each place as you reach it, stop exactly where the direction says, and then read what the question asks there.
3.Opposite is always four places on
The circle has eight places, so the opposite place is four places away, whichever way you go. Count four once and stop; counting round both ways is how a place gets lost.
4.Shortest route means the shorter arc
Between North and East the shorter way round passes through one place, North-East, so the guideline's second example gives 2. When a direction says the shortest route, count both ways and take the fewer places.
5.Answer with the number, not the letter
B3 names the place lettered B whose square holds 3. The letters mark places; the numbers in the squares are the answers. A number can sit in more than one square, so read the square at the place you reached.
6.Practise on a laptop or desktop
The portal works on a phone too, but the exam hall is a desktop screen with a mouse. Sit every practice paper and Full Mock on a laptop or desktop, so the screen, the mouse and the pace are the ones you will meet on the day.
Mistakes that cost marksगलतियाँ
- Turning anticlockwise for 'right-handedly', or clockwise for 'left-handedly'.
- Counting the start position as the first step.
- Reading 'between' as 'next to'.
- Answering with the letter at the stop, or the start's own number, instead of the number in the square you reached.
- Going the long way round when the direction asks for the shortest route.
- Leaving the last questions blank after a slow start.
A 7-day plan for the Watch Table Test7 दिन की योजना
| Day | What to do |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | Read the instruction screen in both languages and copy the circle on paper. Work the two guideline examples until 5 and 2 come out on their own. Then sit one practice paper for accuracy, not speed. |
| Day 2 | Clockwise and anticlockwise, without counting the start as a step. Sit one paper; in the review, say the path aloud for every direction you got wrong. |
| Day 3 | Between and opposite: the place between two named places, and the place four on from it. Sit one paper; for each wrong answer, write the path's numbers in a row and check where you slipped. |
| Day 4 | Shortest route: count both ways round and take the shorter way. Sit one paper at hall pace and settle the start and the way of travel before reading the rest. No question over 30 seconds. |
| Day 5 | Two papers at full pace on a laptop or desktop with a mouse. Aim to finish all 20 with time to spare. Each paper allows up to 3 attempts and keeps your highest T-Score. |
| Day 6 | Switch to the tables: one Letter Table Test paper and one Number Table Test paper. The hall gives Test 2 as any one of its three kinds and does not say which. |
| Day 7 | Sit the free Full Mock in one sitting. Read the Test 2 T-Score against 42 and the target of 60, and plan next week from the review. |
Questions students askसवाल-जवाब
▸What is the Watch Table Test in the RRB ALP psycho test?
It is one of the three kinds of the Following Directions Test, Test 2 of the CBAT. Its 20 questions send you round a circle of eight lettered places. You answer with a number from the squares, as the question asks.
▸How many questions does the Watch Table Test have and how much time?
The RDSO guideline gives 20 questions in 10 minutes, 30 seconds a question. The portal's practice papers keep the same count and clock.
▸Did the last ALP exam give the Watch Table Test?
Yes. In the last exam (CEN 01/2024) the hall gave the Watch Table Test for Test 2, as the institute's records show. Any of the three kinds can come next time, so keep both tables ready. For CEN 01/2025 the railway's mock link gives the Watch Table Test again, so practise it first.
▸What does right-handedly mean in the Watch Table Test?
Right-handedly means clockwise. Left-handedly means anticlockwise. Fix the way of travel first, then count the places.
▸What does opposite mean in the Watch Table Test?
The circle has eight places, so the place opposite any point is four places on, either way round. The RDSO guideline's first example asks for the number just opposite to the number between B3 and D2; its answer is 5.
▸Is there negative marking in the RRB ALP psycho test?
No. The CBAT has no negative marking. Attempt every question; an unanswered question is a mark lost for certain.
▸What T-Score do I need to pass?
A T-Score of at least 42 in each of the five tests of the CBAT. The portal shows your T-Score on every paper the moment you submit, measured against everyone who sat it.
▸Can I practise on my phone?
Yes, the portal runs on a phone. But the CBAT is taken on a desktop with a mouse, so Kautilya Classes advises every student to sit the practice papers and Full Mocks on a laptop or desktop: the same screen, the same mouse, the same pace as the hall.
▸How do I practise this test on the portal?
Every account gets one free Full Mock after login: all five tests in one sitting with the hall's timing and a scorecard with your T-Score in each test. Practice papers of every kind, with the hall's count and clock, come with a Kautilya Classes package. New students message the team on WhatsApp; Kautilya Classes students get their login from the institute.
